Our vision is to exist as a center of excellence in child advocacy and a place of practical solution for freeing the vulnerable from economic, social, physical and emotional adversities. Our mission is to provide development for vulnerable children in difficult circumstances and build the capacity of families and communities to support children. We also make it a point to achieve these not compromising our core values of care concern and respect.

Children from economically challenged families are often at risk of not receiving any basic education. Our approach to help here has been to identify such families through the registration exercise and help place such children in local schools. We further assists with paying the required fees, providing school uniforms and stationary through donor support. Twenty-three(23) children under the program have been able to attend senior high school and had their fees paid to enable them go back to school whiles ninety-eight (98) children have received various educational materials which include exercise books, pens, mathematical sets, school bag and school uniforms. This has been made possible by the support of Quality Education Now, a project organized by a London based organization known as Mercy and Peace Outreach.
As work has continued we have come across some communities within our catchment area that face environmental sanitation and hygiene issues. As this is integral to the well being of children in the community, we have organized series of seminars, workshop and other educational activities meant to create awareness and support towards some behavioral change. Eighty (80) care-givers benefited from the series of seminars on sanitation and personal hygiene awareness in the community. This was to educate them on the causes of cholera, how to prevent it and how to handle affected persons with cholera. And forty-five (45) of the care-givers were trained on the proper way of oral health.

To contribute to the national fight to reduce the rate of teenage pregnancy, we have currently identified and reached out to thirty-nine (39) teenagers or care-givers of who have given birth. These mothers are taken through various counseling sessions aimed at

  1. Helping them accept their children and not neglect them
  2. Helping them be more responsible for the upbringing of their children
  3. Giving some mothers the opportunity to go back to school or learn a trade to support themselves.
This effort has been aimed at exposing them to a knowledge base enable them avoid some of the fatal mistakes of their parents. Using the Afflatoun methodology, school children are offered insight into financial literacy and an opportunity to immediately put them in practice. This is done in collaboration with some financial institutions within the community. So far, twelve Afflatoun clubs have been established in twelve schools in the community. The core essence of the Afflatoun program is to educate the children on their rights and responsibilities, planning and budgeting, saving and spending. It has been a tremendous honor for to be given the opportunity to be a part of enriching the lives of others over these past years. We look forward to continuing in these strides and building a better foundation for children in these disadvantaged communities, through the support we have received and hope to continue to receive from our donors.
